Paternity Test Options
A standard DNA paternity test compares the DNA of the child, alleged father, and mother (the mother’s participation is optional). DNA is inherited from the biological parents, and thus the child’s DNA is a combination of DNA from the mother and father.
A paternity test can be done either through in-home collection (as described on this page) or through Chain of Custody collection. Chain of custody collections are performed if the paternity test result is to be used for legal purposes, such as claiming child support, Social Security, or inheritance benefits.
Because DNA is found in all body cells and remains the same from conception and even beyond a person’s lifetime, we can determine paternity in some special situations. We can obtain DNA samples before a child is born through prenatal testing. Prenatal testing requires sample collection procedures performed by an OB-GYN. Patients may choose their own physician, or we can coordinate OB-GYN appointments for them.
When a person to be tested is unavailable, we can try to obtain DNA from unusual samples he or she has left behind, such as hair (with root), stored blood or tissues, or even items that the person has used, such as a toothbrush. These samples require a separate viability test to determine whether there is enough DNA suitable for a paternity test.
Testing Cost
With our sophisticated DNA analyzers and robotic sample handling systems, we are able to offer standard DNA paternity testing for only $99. This all-inclusive fee covers all shipping costs, the DNA collection kit, and DNA testing and analysis.
If you have more than one child or alleged father who needs to be tested, we can add them to the test for a fee of $85 per additional person tested. Please note that in order to take advantage of this offer, the additional tested party or parties must be tested at the same time as the others.

Turnaround Time
Paternity test results are available five working days after we receive all samples in the lab. We send the results via first class mail and email free of charge; expedited shipping options are also available for an extra fee.
